After falling into a state of disrepair, the model village was painstakingly restored by the new owners Nick Bowler and Larry Chambers over the course of the last 18 months. Since 2019, the site has started welcoming back visitors after a three-year break. It's not just the model village that has undergone a revamp either, with the old tearooms renovated into a proper cafe. You can expect to see plenty of local landmarks in a miniature format Other highlights include Beaumaris Castle and a scene depicting the story of St Dwynwen, the St Valentine of Wales. The beauty of the Anglesey Model Village is that there is so much more to the place than the model village (as impressive as it is). For starters, the gardens and planting scheme that frames the models are wonderful and are worth visiting in their own right. However, there's plenty for the kids, too, with an extensive play area, a maze, and a self-ride train engine (under staff supervision). The team also put on a range of activities and themed events throughout the year, so it's always worth checking in with their social media pages to keep up to date with any special occasions before your visit. Whistle Stop Cafe Attached to the model village is the Whistle Stop Cafe. It's the perfect place to grab a bite to eat before moving on to your next excursion or heading out to the nearby Newborough Forest. You can choose to eat within the cafe itself or head out to the picnic area, which has several covered (and, crucially, rainproof) seating "pods." The visitor pods at the Whistle Stop Cafe are perfect for all kinds of weather There are plenty of options for visitors, with the cafe serving afternoon teas, homemade soups, baps, paninis, cakes, and coffees.
